  1. 1: When Bruno is watching his father in the hall with the soldiers he is talking about how different they are from his father. They're not as handsome and dignified as his father and they all seem to vie for his attention. And the words they utter aren't told and it leads you in suspense because everything seems to be a mystery to the reader.
2: When Bruno asks his father who are the people outside his father shrugs it off and says that they're not people. This shows that whoever those people are , are obviously less then them in the social chain. Again we are in suspense.
3: When Bruno asks the maid if she is unhappy here, she seems as if she is but if she was to say something it could lead to her being punished cause it is important matters that do not need to be shared with a nine year old.

  2. 1: Maria(the maid) asks like she is scared to talk about how she really feels. Gretel treats her like she is not a human and she doesn't have feelings. But Bruno doesn't.

2:When Bruno was looking outside his window he notice these people outside who lived in huts. Bruno went to question his father about it father said they are not people. I guess he said that because there is less of them in the social chain.

3:Bruno notice when his father was talking to the soldiers how they admired him. Bruno also noticed how they weren't not has handsome as his father or how their uniform weren't freshly pressed as his.

  3. 1. When Mrs. Schachter started screaming,"Jews, look!Look through the window!Flames!Look!" they had arrived in Auscwitz but had yet to be released from the hellish cart. No one else saw anything. They yelled for her to shut up, and that she was a loon... all the while her little boy stroked her hand.

2.When a complete stranger told Eli and his father to lie about their ages. they never saw him again.

3.Eli saw a lorry delivering its load into a firy furnace. It's load was babies.

."I did not deny God's existence, but I doubted His absolute justice."

    - He wonders If God is Picking sides Also if He Look Down On Jews As They've Done Something Wrong Also . I feel and understand where he's coming from especially when he gets separated from his family i also understand when he lays down and think about what his father must be going through cause it has to be worst on his side , Life is changing for the worst and the only thing the jews got is hope . Only thing they could live on is faith cause everything else is being burned or replaced .
